John Cratchley This is a fascinating aural travelogue that really piques the imagination and engages strong sensory perceptions for me; bringing the 'inward journey' to life.
Koner brings an amazing (and surprising) range of emotions to the fore...there are so many stories being told here and more is unravelled with each listen...
I find myself unwittingly drawn back to these pieces time and again, trying to 'fill in the gaps' and enhance his aural scenarios (or "Sonic Cartography", as Koner calls it) with my own imagination. You can dwell in one location or submit to the ever-moving diaspora...
A truly absorbing and engrossing experience. Favorite track: Hochallee, Hamburg.

Kathleen Gatliffe A tremendous travelogue and gentle reminder of quiet moments during travel past and future. Wonderful for study and meditation. Favorite track: Jerusalem (Hour Nine).

Dan Maharry Delighted to find there's more to La Barca than the original CD. Very fine soundscapes from around the world pulled through a dream-lit gauze Favorite track: Cairo (Hour Three).

Clim Such brilliant, imaginative work. Its melancholy pulls me in with every listen. And at last it's here for all to hear and buy...sorry, traders! (*evil grin*) Favorite track: Montenegro (Hour Eleven).

patient_ot Fantastic stuff. Very different from most of Koner's other work I have due to use of field-recorded sampled voices. To some it might be distracting, but I think it works perfectly. Major thanks to the artist for making this available here.
Masayume

Masayume Absolute Fantastisch!
Es ist eine akkustische Weltreise, auf die uns dieser (Klang-)Kuenstler mitnimmt - vielen Dank!
Ein Werk fuer die Ewigkeit. Favorite track: Vasabron, Stockholm.

about

This digital edition offers for the first time the complete edition of the La Barca cycle. This release contains all tracks of the (sold out) La Barca CD (2009) plus the five bonus tracks of the (sold out) double LP (2010) PLUS five additional tracks that have never been released before due to space limitations.

For La Barca, I spent two years travelling and recording, and these compositions take the listener on a journey around the world. The delicate use of harmonies, silence, stillness and field recordings gives the music on La Barca a hallucinogenic effect and a Zen-like feeling of eternity.
The title La Barca refers to the solar barque, or sun boat, which passes through the realms of the underworld (Duat according to Egyptian mythology) each night to reappear in the east every morning.

With these pieces I am creating a sonic cartography of the places I visited.

IN A BARQUE SHE SAILS ACROSS THE HIGH LANDS OF THE PAST.

THE BARQUE HEADS SHIMMER AND GLOW AT STERN AND BOW,
AND THAT LIGHTS HER UNSEEABLE PASSAGE.

SHE CALLS TO THE SPIRITS OF THIS HOUR,
AND THAT IS HOW WE COME TO EVEN HEAR HER VOICE.
